A Port Elizabeth man was wounded in a shooting incident in Helenvale in the city's Northern Areas on Tuesday morning.
Netcare 911 said paramedics responded to reports of a shooting in Fitchard Street.
Spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, said reports from the scene indicated that an adult male sustained two gunshot wounds, one to his left leg and another to his left hand.
He said the patient required Advanced Life Support intervention to stabilise him and once treated he was transported by ambulance to a hospital for further treatment.
Police confirmed the shooting saying that the victim was 19-years old.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit is probing a case of attempted murder.
