Tributes are pouring in for the young man who died on Sunday when he jumped off a cliff ledge at the popular Waterfall spot "Jan-se-Gat" on the Kabeljous River at Jeffreys Bay.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Majola Nkohli, identified the deceased as 23-year-old Ewan Riding-Smith.
It is believed that Riding-Smith bumped his head on a rock before landing in the water.
National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said their NSRI Jeffreys Bay rescue vehicle, and a range of role-players including EMS and Private ambulance services, SAPS, and Jeffreys Bay Fire and Rescue Services responded to the scene.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, said a husband and wife came across the man, and after he was recovered from the water paramedics commenced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation efforts.
He said after all efforts to resuscitate Riding-Smith were exhausted he was sadly declared deceased.
His body was taken into the care of Police and Government Health Forensic Pathology Services following the incident.
The NSRI conveyed its condolences to the family of the deceased who is from Gqeberha.
Meanwhile, Storehouse Church, situated in Lorraine in Gqeberha issued a brief message of condolences to Riding-Smith on their Facebook Page.
Riding-Smith served the Church as a youth leader for many years.
