A man is expected to appear in the Ventersdorp Magistrates Court on Monday following an incident on Boxing Day when an ambulance was stolen right in front of the local hospital.
Police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh said the 24-year-old suspect allegedly drove off just before midnight with a patient still inside.
She said emergency services received the patient and placed them in the ambulance to be transported to a nearby facility.
Police acted immediately and found the ambulance at a nearby informal settlement.
Myburgh said the patient was unharmed.
The suspect will be charged with stealing an ambulance.
