George police are investigating a case of murder after a man was shot on the N2 highway near Thembalethu.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Poje said earlier that a forensic team was gathering evidence at the scene.
The deceased was from Thembalethu's zone 9.
Pojie told Algoa FM News that a man was being held for questioning.
According to the George Herald website, the suspect is an off-duty policeman from Port Elizabeth. According to his statement he thought he was being robbed and shot in self defence.
