Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of murder after a Sidwell businessman was shot dead on Friday morning.
Police spokesperson, captain Stanley Jarvis, says the incident happened early in the morning morning when the owner of the Wheel Doctor was opening up for business.
He says the businessman was confronted by two men armed with guns who then opened the car doors and began searching the occupants.
Jarvis says at the same time a family member who has an adjacent business arrived and when they noticed something was amiss drove onto the pavement and knocked down one of the gunman.
"The other armed robber then came around the vehicle from the other side, took a pistol and then shot the family member that arrived to assist. He was identified as a Mr Johannes Botha(52) he passed away at the scene. The two suspects ran away" he said.
