File

A 40-year old man was killed after one of the fuel tanks of a cement factory in Coega outside Gqeberha exploded on Saturday evening.

Police spokesperson, Captain André Beetge says factory workers were busy with production when the explosion took place at around 7 pm.

He says no one else was injured.

The name of the deceased will be released as soon as his next-of-kin has been informed.

Captain Beetge says the cause of the explosion, which blasted a hole in the roof, is still unknown.

Police have opened an inquest docket.
