Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder following an incident in Bethelsdorp on Thursday night.
Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg says a group of five friends were gathered at a house in Vassen Crescent when a suspect knocked at the front door.
Janse van Rensburg says upon opening the door a 40-year old man was shot in the head by an unknown suspect wearing a balaklava
She says the suspect proceeded into the house and started firing shots.
A man and a woman were injured and later taken to hospital.
The suspect fled on foot and no arrests have been made.
Police are are investigating a possibility that the incident may be gang related.
