Police in Bethelsdorp arrested an alleged murder suspect on the scene of the fatal shooting of a 41-year-old man at a house in Glover Street on Sunday night.
Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says around 7.30 pm, Byron Williams was at a family gathering at the house.
While the family was in the garage, Williams and the suspect went into the house to the kitchen from where a gunshot was heard a short while later.
Family members rushed into the kitchen where they found Williams lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his left shoulder.
He died prior to the arrival of medics or the police.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the suspect, who is related to the deceased, was arrested and his licensed firearm confiscated.
The investigation into the shooting continues and the 42-year-old suspect will appear in the Gqeberha magistrate's court this week on a charge of murder.
