Man killed after trying to burn cops with boiling water and primus stove

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate has opened an inquest docket after a man from Bethelsdorp was killed by a policeman.
Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says two officers responded to a complaint of a man in Chetty causing trouble.
He was asked to come with police to the station but refused.
The man then grabbed a kettle full of boiling water and a primus stove that was hot, and threatened to burn the police,
One officer fired a warning shot, but the suspect continued to approach him. A second and third warning shot was fired after which the policeman fell and a struggle ensued.
His partner then fired a shot killing the 34 year old man.
