Eastern Cape police are investigating a kidnapping case after a 33-year-old man was abducted from his workshop in Butterworth on Thursday afternoon.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci says it is alleged that five unknown gunmen approached the victim in an Industrial area in Msobomvu where they forcefully pushed him into his Audi A3 before driving off.
She says his mother who witnessed the incident was not harmed.
Police have urged any person with information to come forward.
The victim has been identified on social media as Schalk van der Merwe and the registration number of his vehicle is JPZ 867 EC.
Soci says all information received will be treated with strict confidentiality.
She says SAPS have not received any information about a possible ransom.
