Man jailed for attack on top PE businessman

A Port Elizabeth man has been sentenced to 12-years imprisonment in the city's regional court for the robbery and attempted murder of well known local businessman Norman Kahn.

State Prosecutor Marlini Moodley says Bilal Jaylani from Schauderville was found guilty and sentenced on Wednesday to 12 years on the charge of robbery and 5 years on the charge of attempted murder.

Sentences are to run concurrently.

During October 2010 Kahn and his daughter were held at gunpoint at his home and his Rolex watch worth almost R400 000 was taken.

The watch, a gift given to Kahn by his late brother, was never recovered.
