A 26-year-old man from Tembalethu in George is due to appear in court on Monday on charges of attempted murder and house-breaking.
This follows an incident this weekend when he allegedly broke into a house in Victoria Street and stabbed the home-owner several times.
Police spokesperson, captain Bernadine Steyn, says the 35-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after Saturday's incident.
She says the suspect was arrested near the scene and all the stolen goods were recovered.
