A middle aged man from KwaNonqaba, appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate court on a charge of murder, after he assaulted a 6 month old baby.
The suspect allegedly had an argument with the mother of the child in their home.
According to sources, the baby was lying on a bed, sleeping, when the suspect took the baby by the feet smashing it's head into the floor.
The child was taken to a local hospital but was declared dead.
It is unknown at this stage whether or not the baby is the biological child of the suspect.
He remains in custody.
