Mount Road Police detectives in Gqeberha are investigating a case of murder following a shooting incident in the early hours of Thursday morning at the corners of Govan Mbeki and Cawood Street in North End.
Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says a witness and the deceased were walking together shortly before 4 am when a silver hatchback VW Polo stopped next to them and the occupants fired shots at them.
A man, whose name has not yet been released was shot and killed while the witness was able to run away unharmed.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage and that anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact their nearest police station.
