A man in his 20's was found dead by police on the side of the Port Alfred main road on Friday morning.
Lieutenant Luvuyo Mjekula says community members from Nemato township informed the police about a naked body laying next to the R63.
He says the man sustained head injuries and a big rock, covered in blood, was found next to the body.
Mjekula says the victim is believed to be from KwaZulu-Natal.
Police are still investigating the cause of death and a murder docket has been opened.
