A 30 year old St Francis Bay man has drowned while trying to save his two young children who had got into difficutly in the access channel to the Krom River opposite The Cove.
The NSRI's Craig Lambinon says NSRI rescue swimmers reached the chidlren during yesterday's tragedy and with the help of a passing boat brought them to safety.
It was then learnt that the children's father had tried to rescue them but had been swept out to sea.
His body was found approximately 150 meters upstream from where eye-witnesses and his family had last seen him.
Police will open an inquest docket.
