A man has drowned and one is missing following an outing at the Kariega River Mouth in Kenton on Sea on Monday.
A spokesperson for the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Craig Lambinon says all responders were activated and a search was launched in the River mouth, continuing upriver with the incoming tide.
He says an adult male was found unresponsive and was declared dead after paramedics exhausted CPR efforts.
The victim got into difficulty in the water when his friend tried to assist.
The friend remains missing and the SAPS Water Policing and Diving Services (WPDS) will continue the search on Tuesday.
