A Port Elizabeth man who allegedly lost a goat to dogs in Missionvale has been blamed for poisoning up to 20 animals.
Patsy Wagner of the Animal Anti-Cruelty League says eight dogs had died, including one that witnesses say was hanged by the perpetrator who is now nowhere to be found.
She told Algoa FM News that 12 dogs have been hospitalised at vets around the city.
Wagner said she received a call yesterday from a resident who said that his dog had been poisoned.
She says the man told her about the encounter with the owner of the goats and the alleged threat he made to kill the man's dogs.
"Yesterday there were about 8 dogs still lying there, 12 of them are still at the vet. We did an autopsy on the dead dogs, and found that they were poisoned. We are not a 100% sure, but some person witnessed that he hanged a dog from a tree in his yard. Another dog was beaten" she said
It is understood that a case will be opened with the police.
