Southern Cape police have arrested a 50 year old man near Groeneweide Park in George for allegedly stabbing a woman.
Spokesperson, Captain Bernadine Steyn says a passer-by contacted police, informing them of an injured woman at a house in Watson Street on Wednesday morning.
She says the 38 year old victim was found with open wounds in the face, neck and hands next to a parked vehicle in front of the house, and taken to hospital a serious but stable condition.
Steyn says it is alleged that two men approached her, and one of them stabbed her several times with a sharp object.
Both suspects fled the scene, but one was later arrested.
He is expected to appear in the George Magistrates’ court soon.
Steyn says the search for the second suspect is continuing.
