A 46-year-old man was arrested in Addo on Friday for allegedly stealing more than R14 million rand from his employer, the Strathmore Farm Trust.
The Hawks in the Eastern Cape said Harold Henry was arrested on Friday by members of their Gqeberha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team.
Spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mogolodela, said he made a brief appearance in the Addo Magistrate's Court where the matter was remanded to next Friday for a formal bail application.
According to the charge sheet, Henry is alleged to have misappropriated and stolen more than R14.4 million rand from the Trust.
He is also accused of contravening a section of the Cyber Crimes Act for deleting data on the Trust's computer and for damaging a disc on which their accounting programme was installed.
According to the state, the penalty should be imprisonment, not exceeding ten years or a fine, or both.
