Premier Oscar Mabuyane says he, his executives, and director general have undergone lifestyle audits and no adverse findings were found by the State Security Agency.
He says this is a move that marks the quest for clean governance and a corruption-free administration in the province.
Mabuyane was delivering his State of the Province Address in Bhisho on Friday where he admitted that there were crises that marred this term of government, such as the Enyobeni tavern tragedy, the drought in Nelson Mandela Bay as well as mass killings in the Metro and elsewhere in the province.
However, he believes the job of building the Eastern Cape is on track.
Expanding on the fight against corruption, he said that the lifestyle audit process will be cascaded down to the local government level.
“Heads of Department and Senior Management Service have completed the annual financial disclosures, these have been analysed and there were no adverse findings.”
He said from now on they would direct their focus on local government, prioritising audits of officials in supply chain management.
Mabuyane said anti-corruption agencies were continuing their work and cases are at different stages of the investigation.
“The work of these agencies is starting to bear fruit as 49 of the 95 reported cases have already seen matters ending up in the courts.
He says the Special Investigating Unit has also completed the probe into the 748 cases of PPE fraud referred to them.
Meanwhile, on unemployment, he says more jobs would be coming to the province as history has been made by attracting 11 new investors at the Provincial Investment Conference with a combined value of R46 billion.
While on investments, he says has been in talks with the captains of the auto industry to embrace the transition towards the production and consumption of Electric Vehicles and become a national automative-hub.
He says Bhisho will also be pushing for a new European automaker to set up shop in the province
