Police in Port Elizabeth have arrested a suspect whom they believe to be the man who robbed three houses at the same retirement village in the city.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the 31-year-old Thembelani Ntantiso was ironically arrested at the PE magistrates court on Wednesday where he was about the pay bail for a family member.
Ntantiso is being charged for three house robberies and will be back in court on Monday.
The first robbery took place in mid-November when two elderly women were beaten and robbed at the retirement village situated in Buffelsfontein Road in Walmer.
In the second incident, exactly a week later Ntantiso allegedly struck again and entered the house of an elderly couple.
In both robberies, he allegedly stole TV sets, phones and DVD players.
