A 43-year old man has been arrested for being in possession of more than 570 kilograms of dagga with an estimated street value of R2.8-million near Colchester, outside Port Elizabeth.
Police spokesperson, Capt. Andre Beetge says Kinkelbos police spotted a white GWM bakkie with a canopy driving at high speed towards Nelson Mandela Bay on the N2 on Saturday evening.
He says a short chase ensued, which ended when the driver left the road and crashed into road signs.
Beetge says the driver attempted to flee from the police on foot, but was soon arrested.
He says twenty large bags of dagga were discovered on the back of the bakkie.
The suspect was arrested for dealing in dagga and his vehicle taken for forensic analysis.
He will appear in the Alexandria Magistrates Court on Monday.
