Man arrested for murdering elderly woman and young girl

Eastern Cape police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly killing an elderly woman and her five year old great grand-daughter.
Police spokesperson, Major Zamakulingisa Jozana, says its alleged the suspect also raped the 89-year-old woman. He says the incident happened in the Elliotdale area on Saturday.
Jozana says the suspect's identity document was found on the scene. He faces two charges of murder when he appears in court in Mqanduli this week.
And in George, a local man appeared in court on Monday on a charge of the illegal posession of drugs. He was arrested on Friday following a raid on his home in Bos en Dal.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says the case against 37-year-old Chinendo Ido was postponed to next Tuesday for a formal bail application.
He was found in posession of of cocaine, heroin and tik with an estimated street value of R250,000.
Pojie says George cluster commander, Major-General Thembesile Patekile, has commended his members for their commitment in ridding the community of drugs.
