Eastern Cape police have arrested one of two suspects who allegedly murdered three people - including two elderly women.
Provincial spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says the 47-year-old suspect, believed to be related to one of the women, was arrested at Mqanduli on Monday and appeared in court on Tuesday.
He says the case was remanded to 18 August for a formal bail application.
Kinana says the suspects forced their way into the victim's home and shot the son as well as his mother and aunt.
The three family members, aged between 27 and 61, died at the scene.
Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the remaining suspect, is requested to contact the police.
