A 41-year-old man was arrested on Freedom Day for allegedly stabbing his 51-year-old wife to death at a guesthouse in George.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies said the suspect reported the incident at the George police station shortly after it happened.
He said members of the George police were dispatched to the scene at around 09:50 on Thursday morning.
“On arrival, they found the victim with multiple stab wounds in the bedroom of a guest house in Aspeling Street. She was declared dead by medical personnel on the scene and the man was arrested,” he said.
The motive for this killing is not yet known.
Spies said the man remains in custody and will appear in court once he has been formally charged.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
