Eastern Cape police have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of two women whose bodies were found on a gravel road in Joe Slovo in Gqeberha on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the arrest was made after the VW Polo stolen from one of the victims was traced to Ngcobo on Thursday evening.
"A 26-year-old male was arrested on a charge of possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and murder. The vehicle was also impounded," Naidu said.
She said upon further investigation a 30-year-old man was arrested in Mhlpekazi location in Ngcobo on a charge of murder.
In an earlier statement, SAPS said that the 36-year-old woman and her friend had dropped off the younger woman's daughter at school in Motherwell in her silver VW Polo.
"That was the last time anyone had seen or heard of the women."
Naidu said a person walking on the gravel road between "Nyamazana and Dubai Informal Settlement" made the grim discovery.
"Both women sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Their names are withheld until a formal identification is done," Naidu said.
The two suspects are expected to appear in the New Brighton Magistrate's Court next week.
