Police in Port Elizabeth arrested a 21-year-old man who fired shots during a funeral on Saturday.
Police were monitoring the funeral and quickly closed in where they found 40 spent cartridges in Chalumna Street in Motherwell.
The 21-year-old shooter attempted to flee from police but they cornered him in a yard and forced him to drop his pistol.
He was arrested and will be charged with the negligent discharging of a firearm in a residential area as well as the illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The investigation led the team to another house in Motherwell where another pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition was found.
No arrests were made but police believe that the firearm was also used to fire shots at the funeral.
The gun will be sent for ballistic testing.
Meanwhile, police in Kwazakele followed up on information about a gun being kept at a shop in Soweto on Sea. When police arrived the 24-year-old shop assistant pulled a loaded revolver from his jacket.
Police forced him to drop the weapon and arrested him.
The gun was tested and linked to a case in Port Alfred where it was reported stolen in October last year.
Both suspects will appear in court on Monday.
