Man arrested for being in possession of firearms and ammunition

Port Elizabeth police have arrested a 46- year old-man following the discovery of firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition on his smallholding at Van Stadens.

Police spokesperson, Captain Stanley Jarvis says police attended to a domestic violence complaint on Sunday night when they discovered several firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Jarvis says police also confiscated an R4 Rifle and several disassembled firearms .

He says some of the firearms are of military grade quality.

"We have confiscated several firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition. We have charged the suspect with 3 counts, attempted murder, contravening the domestic violence act and the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition" he said
