Four hijacking suspects are expected to appear in court in Alexandria in the Eastern Cape this week after they opened fire on police who were pursuing them early on Sunday morning.
Police spokesperson, captain Mali Govender, says the men allegedly hijacked a vehicle in Paterson.
One suspect was wounded in the shoot-out with police.
Govender says the other three suspects were arrested later on the R-72.
They face charges of of attempted murder, hijacking and possession of a suspected stolen car.
