The Eastern Cape Health Department says a male nurse will appear in court in Matatiele on Monday for the alleged rape of a pregnant patient.
Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, says the incident happened over the weekend when the woman went to the Taylor Bequest Hospital in Mount Fletcher on Friday complaining of complications.
He says the woman returned to the hospital the following day and was allegedly raped in a toilet by the male nurse.
Kupelo says the 45-year-old man will be suspended by the Department of Health.
