Police in Makhanda are searching for two men who stormed into a house in Vukani on Friday night, attacking a couple and killing a 38-year-old woman.
Spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, identified the victim as Thokozile Chrisjan, who sustained stab wounds.
He said the husband was assaulted in the attack in their home in Ngqawana Street.
Nkohli said the intruders took two television sets and two cell phones, before fleeing in the couple’s Nissan SUV, which was found burnt out in Fort Beaufort.
“Police opened a case of murder with a second charge of house robbery for investigation,” he said.
SAPS also appealed to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects, to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Nathan Gabriel on 082 301 9071 or 083 468 7063 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.
