The Makhanda/Grahamstown municipality has urged residents in the city's eastern parts to be patient, while it battles with water supply.
Mayor Mzukisi Mpahlwa said on Saturday that this was due to a lot of mud in the water, which came from the Fish River.
"The high content of mud in the water released from the Fish River to Glen Melville Dam means the pumps had to be switched off so that the mud can settle", he said.
Mpahlwa says this process will take four to five days, and there will be no supply of water to Grahamston East during this period.
"Trucks have started delivering water to distribution points, and will continue until the supply is restored. Residents are urged to be patient while this problem is being solved" he said.
