An estimated 13 000 magistrates countrywide will embark on a two-day strike from Monday.
Joasa, the federation representing the magistrates, says the stay-away will bring courts to a standstill after no resolution was found to magistrates' protests around salaries and benefits.
The Magistrates Commission has meanwhile charged Joasa president Nazeem Joemath and his national secretary Annalene Larsen with misconduct.
Joemath says they will not be intimidated.
Magistrate's Commission spokesperson Danie Schoeman has accused Joasa of walking out of a meeting aimed at resolving the issue.
