Axed Councillor Thembinkosi Mafana says he should be suspended rather than fired pending the outcome of the investigation by the ANC Regional Task Team.
Mafana received a letter from Nelson Mandela Bay executive mayor, Ben Fihla earlier this week relieving him of his duties within the city's mayoral committee - based on media coverage surrouding his trip to China and questions raised by opposition parties in Parliament.
Speaking to AlgoaFM News, Mafana said the way in which Chairperson Charles Nqakula was going about the process amounted to factionalism- victimising him politically.
Mafana said the process being followed by the Regional Task Team surrounding his dismissal was not normal.
He said he funded his trip to China in his private capacity..
