Two Eastern Cape Provincial Traffic Officers - Nomahlubi Thambodala and Ntsikelelo Sodo - appeared briefly in the Mthatha Magistrates Court on Tuesday on charges of bribery and corruption.
Mthatha Police Spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci, says the suspects were arrested on Monday after they demanded money from a truck driver whom they alleged had contravened traffic regulations.
She confirmed that they were charged with bribery and corruption and were granted bail of R2000 each.
The docket has now been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a decision.
