George Municipality Programme of Mourning for Nelson Mandela
Text: George Municipality today announced that the programme of mourning for Nelson Mandela continues to be well supported by the George community.
The programme continues today the 11th December, with a wreath laying and memorial service to be held at 18h00 in Conville Community Hall, as well as Uniondale Community Hall.
On Thursday 12th December, a minute of silence will be held at the Annual Ward Committee Gala evening and a wreath laying and memorial service will be held at Haarlem Community Hall attended by Deputy Mayor Maritz.
On Friday 13th December the George public are requested to join in a "Freedom Walk". The walkers are requested to gather from 12h00 from the corner of Nelson Mandela Boulevard and York Street and the walk will start at 12h30. The "Freedom Walk" will proceed along York Street and finish at Unity Park with a wreath laying and brief memorial service.
On Saturday 14th December, a Silent Motorcade will proceed through the town of George. Departing from 12h00 at Rosemore Stadium, members of George community are welcome to join in the procession. Vehicles are to have lights and hazards on and are to follow the lead vehicle as directed by Traffic Services on the day.
George Municipality is pleased to announce that transport will be provided on Sunday 15th December to the Rosemore Stadium for the pre-programme and Public broadcast of the State Funeral. The buses will be parked in the areas of departure as of 08h00 and will depart promptly at 09h00 for the stadium.

Pacaltsdorp 1 bus will depart from the Civic Centre and a second bus from New Dawn Park Primary
Blanco 1 bus will depart from the Civic Centre
Touwsranten 1 bus will collect from the Civic Centres of Hoekwil, Wilderness and Kleinkrantz
Uniondale 2 Taxis will depart from the Civic Centre
Haarlem 2 Taxis will depart from the Civic Centre
Avontuur 2 Taxis will depart from Avontuur Primary
The public is requested to ensure that all children boarding the public transport provided are supervised. Conductors will be available on each bus or taxi to assist with enquiries. Food stalls will be set up at Rosemore Stadium along Miller Street for the purchasing of food items throughout the day and water points will be available within the stadium.
