Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane has moved some MECs to new portfolios and also appointed three new ones to his Executive Council.
He made the announcement at a media briefing in Bhisho on Tuesday, following the resignation of Public Works MEC Babalo Madikizela.
The Premier has also removed Sports, Recreation Arts and Culture MEC Fezeka Nkomonye and Transport and Community Safety MEC Weziwe Tikana-Gxothiwe from the Executive Council.
Mabuyane said MEC Xolile Nqata moves from Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs to Transport and Community Safety.
Nonceba Kontsiwe moves from Human Settlements to Sports, Recreation, Arts & Culture, and Siphokazi Mani-Lusithi will move from Social Development to Human Settlements.
The new Members of the Executive Council are Zolile Williams who will take over as MEC for COGTA, Bukiwe Fanta is the new MEC for Social Development and Ntombovuyo Nkopane is the new MEC Public Works and Infrastructure.
“This team ticks the right boxes in terms of the requisite leadership skills, the 60/40 percent gender equity in favour of women MECs, and the geographic spread of the province,” he said.
