The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality reports that its Traffic Department impounded a defective luxury coach bus on the M4 Freeway shortly after 10 am on Friday.
The laden vehicle with about 40 passengers had no front brakes, a damaged rear right tyre and an oil leak.
Municipal spokesperson Kupido Baron say it is the sixth luxury bus liner taken off the roads since the beginning of December - three liners each from two passenger bus companies.
Baron told AlgoaFM News that the bus involved in Friday's incident had travelled all the way from the former Transkei with no front brakes.
He said the bus company had to move the passengers onto another liner.
The bus has been impounded at the Municipality's depot in Sydenham and Baron says all the defects will have to be repaired before it is released and allowed back on the road.
