The self-confessed middleman Luthando Siyoni has been found guilty of the murder of Kariega teacher Jayde Panayiotou in the Port Elizabeth High Court.
Siyoni faced another charge of conspiracy to commit murder but was found not guilty on that particular charge.
Acting Judge Vinesh Naidoo ruled on Thursday afternoon that the State did not properly seek a conviction on the count of conspiracy to commit murder but was satisfied that all the other evidence pointed to Siyoni being a willing participant in the murder of Jayde.
He added that the testimony of Jayde's husband Christopher was a hammer blow for the accused as well as the video of the sting operation as set up by the Hawks.
Siyoni was a state witness in the original trial but changed his mind and is now facing a possible life sentence in prison - the same sentence that befell Christopher Panayiotou.
Earlier this month, Panayiotou, who is serving a life sentence at St Albans Maximum prison, testified for the State and also shocked the gallery when he apologised for his role in the murder.
Siyoni has been in custody for three years awaiting trial and will be sentenced on Friday.
