Lusikisiki protest: Police Service says it's "out of control"

Protesting hawkers have closed the main road through Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape, burning tyres and placing debris in the road.
Police spokesperson, captain Mduduzi Godlwana, says the protests began on Wednesday morning.
He says the hawkers, who have sent several sets of demands to the Nquza Hill Local Municipality and were apparently told that this would be address by the province.
Godlwana says when no one showed up, the hawkers took to the streets again on Thursday.
"They blocked the road with tyres and tables it is chaotic in Lusikisiki. We would like to advice all motorists who are supposed to drive through town to use a alternative route Saps are busy monitoring the situation" he said.
