A pilot had a lucky escape when his plane developed mechanical problems but was able to make an emergency landing.
Police spokesperson, captain John Fobian, says the incident happened in the Uitenhage area on Wednesday night.
He says the civil aviation authority will conduct an inspection on Thursday.
"Wednesday evening an aircraft in the Uitnehage area had to do an emergency landing due to engin problems. It was just the pilot on board and he landed with the use of a parachute that is built into the aircraft. He sustained no injuries and SAP and Metro went to the scene. He was brought back to PE." he said.
