The MEC for Social Development in the Eastern Cape Dr Pumza Dyantyi, together with other government leaders, will be visiting Lusikisiki on Thursday following a faction fight between two villages.
Spokesperson for the Department Mzukisi Solani says 28 homesteads were torched last weekend leaving over 200 people displaced.
The simmering tensions between the Sicambeni and Zitha village seem to be about village boundaries.
Solani says the violence in the area has already resulted in one death.
The displaced families, consisting mainly of woman and children, are being housed at a local church hall.
MEC Dyanti says they want to bring an end to the hostilities and ensure safe passage of women and children.
The Department has dispatched officials to provide relief support and a multi-stakeholder team has been set up for mediation.
