A 59-year-old business man had a lucky escape when he went to draw money at a bank at the 6th Avenue Shopping Centre in Walmer, Port Elizabeth on Monday.
Police Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says the man was approached by three men who clearly thought there was money in his brief case.
Labans says they tried to fire shots at the complainant but that the gun jammed.
A shot did go off in the air and the suspects promptly fled empty handed in a Silver Toyota Corolla.
