Police in Walmer in Port Elizabeth have launched a manhunt for a suspect involved in the armed robbery of a takeaway outlet in Circular Drive in Lorraine.
Spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says the man entered the store pointing a firearm at an employee demanding money, before forcing the rest of the employees into the back of the premises before 9 am.
She says the suspect then assaulted the store manager who was busy in her office after also demanding money from her.
He then fled on foot into nearby bushes with some of the personal belongings including cell phones and money of some of the employees.
Captain Janse Van Rensburg says the manager was taken to hospital for further medical attention.
Anyone who can assist police with information relating to the robbery is urged to contact the police.
