Local thieves nabbed after stealing chips

Gqeberha police arrested three suspects for a robbery at a garage in Rink Street on Tuesday.

Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says five men entered the garage and verbally threatened the 28-year-old complainant who was delivering and packing chips onto the shelves.

She says they ordered him back to his vehicle which was driven around the corner where the robbers off-loaded boxes of chips valued at R1 550.

A security company assisted the police and spotted their vehicle parked in Albany Road in North End.

Colonel Naidu says police approached the vehicle with caution and found three men seated inside.

The suspects, aged between 25-27 were arrested and police seized several cell phones, a computer tablet, a laptop and bank cards.

She says police will also look into their possible involvement in house robberies in Kwazakhele and Motherwell and their car was impounded for further investigation.

Naidu says no chips were found in the car.
