The Eastern Cape Liquor Board has urged traders to consistently enforce Covid-19 health protocols to prevent further suspensions of alcohol sales.
Spokesperson Mgwebi Msiya also urged outlets to encourage their patrons to get vaccinated.
He says previously, liquor outlets were accused of being super spreaders due to glaring non-adherence to Covid 19 health protocols.
As a result, the sale of alcohol was suspended on numerous occasions, and invariably suspensions have had a long-term economic effect on the business viability of the liquor industry.
According to the latest statistics from the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), the Eastern Cape accounted for 20% of the new cases.
