Liquefied gas facility at Mossel Bay a step closer

State oil company Petro SA says the CSIR has been contracted to conduct an environmental impact assessment on the proposed liquefied gas facility in Mossel Bay.

PetroSA says the E-I-A will identify and evaluate environmental characteristics of the project as well its possible impact.

Chief executive, Nosizwe Nokwe-Makamo says the establishment of a liquefied natural gas facility in Mossel Bay is important in maintaining the sustainability of the company's gas-to-liquids refinery.

She says employment levels at the refinery and PetroSA's contribution to the economy of the Southern Cape and the country will be maintained.
