A Port Elizabeth man has been jailed for life for raping two young girls, aged five and six, in 2017.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni, said that 51-year-old Mlungiseleli Tyane, was jailed in the Port Elizabeth High Court on Wednesday.
He said he was sentenced to two life terms for rape, 10 years each on two counts of kidnapping and 15 years for the attempted murder of one of his victims.
Tonjeni said Tyane was found guilty in December of abducting and raping the children in his shack in New Brighton in September 2017.
He later took the six-year-old child to a nearby stadium where he stabbed her several times and left her for dead.
Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Liziwe Ntshinga, welcomed the sentence imposed on Tyane.
