A man charged with the rape and murder of a 17-year-old schoolgirl from Great Brak River has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Mossel Bay Circuit Court.
Twenty-three-year-old Nathan Mowers, was found guilty earlier of the murder and rape of Lesley-Ann Maya in April 2015 and was sentenced on Thursday afternoon.
Lesley-Ann was strangled with three shoelaces that were tied five times around her neck.
Her body was found eight days after she went missing, a mere 100 metres from her Powertown home.
Mowers will only be able to apply for parole after he has served 25 years of his sentence.
